Ampherlaw Farmhouse lies in quiet, rural South Lanarkshire, close to Carnwath, Biggar and Lanark; a haven for nature lovers, walkers, cyclists, golfers, or for simple relaxation. With tourist attractions such as New Lanark, the Falls of Clyde and Tinto Hill, and local attractions such as golf courses, horse riding and excellent walking all close by, Ampherlaw Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast is an excellent base for a short stay. The Tweed Trails lie only a few miles from our doorstep, making Ampherlaw Farmhouse the perfect base for a walking holiday. For a longer stay, Edinburgh (to the east), Glasgow (to the west) and Stirling (to the north) are all an easy 35 minute drive away. Our recently converted listed farm buildings provide luxurious bed and breakfast accommodation comprising a large, en suite double bedroom with private sitting area and wood burning stove. Ampherlaw steading was built as the home farm of the adjacent Ampherlaw House, originally home of the Somerville family (hence the S on the datestone). Although the majority of the present buildings are probably of later 19th century date, it is likely that the steading has been located here since the 18th century.
